Round 6 Comments

Congratulations! You have completed all but the last the round.

Tasks:

Review etiquette.

Learn how to make comments.

Make overly positive comments on other teams' pages.

Make a bulleted list of three things you liked or learned from the other teams' pages.

Save your page.

Steps:

First, lets review the etiqette use for writing online:

1. Be safe: If you are a student you must use your code name. Follow and remember our netiquette (this page). Reveal no personally identifying information.

2. Be kind: Be overly friendly and positive; you must refrain from any profane, sarcastic, or unkind responses.

3. Be respectful: Since our writing work is schoolwork, school rules and expectations apply when making any references on or to this site.

Be nice. The most important thing to remember is sarcasm hurts. It is most often misunderstood when typed in a message which is then posted on the Internet. You may think you're funny when you write something rude or silly, but it can be extremely hurtful to read. Negative words hurt worse when said by someone you thought was your friend. So, be overly friendly and be positive. Remember ... treat others as you would like to be treated.

Read, re-read, and proof-read before you click ENTER. Don't rush to make that final. Once you press that button, you can't bring it back. Look everything over and use your spell check to be sure everything is accurate. When you are certain that the editing is complete, then save to publish.

Some folks are not terribly good at thinking and writing at the same time, and what they say ends up sounding not so good. If you think they were deliberately nasty or highly critical, don't agonize over it or respond in kind. The best way to change what people do is to reward good behavior and to ignore bad behavior. Be sure to report any thing that makes you uncomfortable or that feels hurtful to an adult.

Next. learn HOW to comment on someone else's work:

  1. Speak directly to the student or teacher whose post you are responding to. (use their team name in the comment)
  2. Quote from the post or describe specific details (of an image or video).
  3. Relate the work to your own experiences or to another text, image, video, or audio that this one reminds you of.
  4. Be encouraging and generous with your remarks. End on a positive note.

Example

Team TB6, I like how you colored each heading blue and and each subheading another color blue. I think I will use that style in my next page. I used too many colors in mine.  Thank you for showing me a better way to use color. Team TA5.

Learn WHERE to comment.  Look for this at the bottom of each page on which you are allowed to comment (notice that you cannot comment on the teacher direction page):

Thoughtfully type your comment in the Add a comment box. Proofread it for erros.  Double-check that it is positive and kind.  Then click "Add Comment."  You cannot delete it, so follow the expectations.

Now return to Wiki Start Directions T and choose at least three other team pages from any grade.  Look for something interesting that you like. Add a comment to each page.  Then return to this page and create in your grade's section a bulleted list with formatted title to list three things you liked or learned from your three pages. That is one list of three items.  Make your list professional. Save.

When you have finished your work below, save and return to Wiki Start Directions T .  This is the end of Round 6 and the Wiki Roundup.  Notify your teacher. Did you learn your tasks?
