Building Avatars/Icons
Introduce yourself by putting an avatar/icon on your page.
An avatar is a representation of the essence of you.
Essential Questions
Think:
What is special to you and about you?
What is important to you?
How can these things come together as a visual representation of you?
Do:
1. On paper, draw what is essential about you.
In the center of a piece of paper, draw a large outline of your favorite shape.
Around the outside of the shape, write or create representatives of the answers to these questions:
What is your favorite color?
What is your favorite animal?
What is your strongest positive emotion?
What is your strongest negative emotion?
What is your favorite food?
What is your favorite place?
What is your favorite hobby?
What is your goal in life?
What is your favorite time of day?
What is your favorite thing to do?
What is the quality that you value the most in yourself?
2. Create a visual representation of these ideas inside the shape on the paper.
Draw and/or color inside your shape a representation of the ideas on the outside of the shape.
3. Make your avatar/icon interpreting your drawing on your computer.
On new computers:
Go to http://www.splashup.com
Create a new document 140x140 pixels.
Use the toolbar and the different colors to create your icon using the ideas you planned on paper.
Save it as a jpg to your computer.
On old computers:
Go to:
http://artpad.art.com/artpad/painter/
