How do we make our writing come alive? DETAILS!
But what exactly does that mean? Here's what we have been practicing:
Description: Describes what something looks like or sounds like (imagery/senses)
Detail: Adds who, what, when, why, where, how information (specific) (5Ws+H)
Strong Verbs: Shows action (can it be done?) --- pulls, slips, yells
Emotions: Explains feelings: How were you feeling? How was the character feeling? How do the characters feel about each other?
Thoughts: Explains what you or our characters thing: What are the characters thinking?
Example: Provides an anecdote (short story in a few sentences), evidence (for instance, for example)
Dialogue: Include conversations between characters to SHOW what is happening through the characters' eyes
