8W

Ms. Edwards

Student:

Date:  Week of 9/15/08

Write a one-paragraph opinion backed with examples of why Google Docs is better or worse than either writing on paper or using a different word processor. Be sure to consider the following:

    * access

    * convenience

    * collaboration

    * communication

    * simplicity.

End your paragraph with a question that asks others agree with your opinion.

You will be writing your explanation in a Google Doc document in your Google Account following these steps:

1. CREATE a new document

2. SAVE that document using the following naming convention (8W, CODE NAME, Use Google Docs)

3. WRITE your explanation in the document

4. SHARE your document with two people (a teacher and another student in class) by adding them as collaborators

5. COMMENT on one other student’s explanation in his or her document, after you’ve been added as a collaborator. Your comment will acknowledge a fact or idea. If you disagree, state why in a polite manner. (Ask for suggestions, if needed.)

6. PUBLISH your document

Here’s what you will have accomplished:

1. You will have a Google Account.

2. You will have signed into Google Docs.

3. You will have become familiar with the editing, saving, sharing, commenting, and publishing features of Google Docs.

4. You will have written a cohesive explanatory paragraph of facts that support your opinion, concluding with a question to persuade a reader to agree with your ideas.
